We've helped many patients in Depew, NY over the years who were battling with back pain, and some of those individuals had been diagnosed with a herniated disc. Earlier research has demonstrated that chiropractic care can be an excellent way to relieve the pain of disc herniation in the lower back and other studies have confirmed that it can relieve herniations in the cervical spine, as well.
Now a recent case report improves our knowledge of the advantages of chiropractic for disc herniations. This study focuses on a 45-year-old patient who had a 2-year history of "chronic mild low back pain and right buttock pain." The individual described a worsening of the radicular pain down her right leg, and also reported occasional tingling in her right foot. These are all signs of neurological issues, and are serious symptoms.
The woman sought help from a chiropractor, who managed the patient with chiropractic adjustments and "advanced myofascial release therapy." The treatment consisted of 2 weeks of adjustments and an additional four weeks of exercise and rehabilitation.
The patient reported a "significant improvement in her low back pain and radiculopathy. In addition, she achieved some improvement in balance."
This article reinforces what we see in our Depew, NY practice: chiropractic care is great for cutting down on the discomfort of disc herniations without drugs or high-risk surgery.
